This is what I heard.
Satay stalls run by Chinese are not common, but there are several in Muar. 2 are in the Bentayan Hawker Centre, the other 2 are stalls along Jalan Haji Abu, more commonly known as the Eatery Heaven Street. The specialties are the Pork (猪肉), Pork Intestine (粉肠), the cockle (西蚶), Kang Kung with Squid (鱿鱼雍菜) and the Pear Drink (沙梨水).
Among, the cockle satay is the most special, and cannot be found elsewhere. The cockle satay was invented by the Teochew ethnic group. The Teochews are famous for its seafood, and the cockles are among their favourites, a tradition that can be traced back to their native land in China. When the Teochew first arrived, the cockles were fused into the local favourite, and hence this special kind of satay. The best cockles are eaten near raw, however, in recent years, people believe that the cockles are contaminated, so they are more often requested to serve well-cooked. So, the real taste is left to those who dare to try.
Although the cockle satays are the unique ones, the most popular among the Muarians are pork intestine satays. The pork-based satays are normally a little bit sweet, and go well with the the cucumber, the pineapple and the ketupat (Malay rice cake). While there are other drinks available to go with the satays, the Pear Drink is unique to Muar. It is rich with the aroma of the pear fruit, and is a little salty, and is really refreshing to go with the satays.
